Charles Ekabhumi Ellik is a poet, artist, husband, student and teacher of Classical Tantric Hatha Yoga.  He co-founded and hosted the Berzerkeley Poetry Slam (1998 - 2010), one of the most storied and successful slams in the world. He has shared the stage with nearly every notable slam champion, and plenty of underground legends.  Ekabhumi has performed and/or taught on many radio stations, in universities, slams, coffeehouses, and living rooms across North America.

His work has appeared in more than a dozen anthologies, website collections, chapbooks.  He   has hosted poetry events for 18 years, slams for 14, and touched off the Bay Area's explosion of poetry slams in 97. In 99, he coached SF Slam team to victory at both the Western Regionals and the Nationals.  Since then, his teams have won numerous national and regional titles.  In 2007, he became the national Head 2 Head Haiku champion, and in 2009 he chaired the Home City Committee of the Individual World Poetry Slam in Berkeley, CA.  His weekly email newsletter, the NorCal Slam UPDATE (now edited by Conocida), has over 3,000 subscribers.  When not writing, painting, or practicing Yoga, he can be found in his garden learning directly from Nature.
